Not about Istanbul, more on Turkey. The Turkish kitchen is great (really great) and we go to restaurants frequently and enjoy. Having said that I do miss Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Polish, ....

I do however understand the stance in Turkey it is great.

We do have Burger King, McDonalds and alike, but for me not too good.

I agree with cdw057, Turkish food is impeccable in both their dishes as well as sweets and snack foods. A simple fact check for the quality of American snacks is to read the ingredients list and the nutritional panel.

As for the American fast food restaurants (Burger King, McDonalds, Arbys etc.), it's bewildering to see long lines at these establishments when we visit Turkey. American fast food is not regarded with seriousness here in the United States and contributes to the unhealthy state of a large portion of the population.
