FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3rd 4:00 pm. We are very proud to extend an invitation to members and friends of the Meeting Place to meet Bengt Forslund, Swedish film director, director, writer, renown film historian and former president of the Swedish and Nordic Film Institutes. He will show extracts from films by Ingmar Bergman and four other great Swedish directors, and show us why these films have become classics. Bengt has worked with and knows personally the great directors and leading Swedish cinema greats including (to mention just a few) Max von Sydrow, Liv Ullman,Jan Troell, Inger Bergman and, of course, the renown Ingmar Bergman. He will talk about what makes their work special and illustrate it with selected film clips. Bengt is a producer and writer, of, among others, Here Is Your Life (1966) The Emigrants (1971), The New Land (1972). He produced and co-wrote with Jan Troell The Emigrants which was nominated for seven Oscars including best picture and best screenplay. Before he retirement he was for many years a member of the Academy Awards Committee and has served on innumerable international film festival juries.
Film buffs or those just interested in good cinema will find this an extraordinary event. A rare opportunity to meet and discuss with one of the leading figures in the cinema world!
The presentation begins at 4 pm, it will be preceded a half-hour before (3:30) with coffee/tea. There is no charge for admission --- though as a voluntary organization donations are welcome (whatever amount you wish )
