Is it a university degree (Licence, Master or Doctorate) ? If yes, your degree should be recognized by Japan.
According to M. Roussel François (french elected official in Japan) :
"The usual salary scales of Japanese companies only take into account university degrees.
The level of “university” diploma can also have an impact on obtaining a work visa (it is better to have at least a bachelor's degree)."
