o celebrate the Year of Czech Music, the Czech Centre presents the UK debut of the Kukal Quartet, with a repertoire centered around Smetana's last chamber music work, premiered in 1884.
Founded in 2020 by four exceptionally talented young musicians and named after the celebrated Czech composer Ondřej Kukal, the quartet quickly gained recognition, winning prizes at the Prague Spring Competition within a year. The quartet has impressed critics and audiences alike with their lively and authentic musical expression, unique ensemble dynamics, and the strong individuality of its members.
