Markéta Slaná is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores digital landscape and the compulsion to consume excessive amounts of negative digital content. She investigates the psychology of dissociation, alienation, and post-ironic detachment through the practice based in installation and performance. Her work embraces mundanity and absurdity laden in the tension of living in a hyperconnected yet disconnected world.
Markéta will discuss the key elements of her work, show genealogy of her practice and delve into her latest explorations around topics of delusion, dissociation and distraction.
Artist talk will be accompanied by a reading of a performance script and Q&A with curator Erin Li.
Erin Li is Curator at Delfina Foundation, leading on the delivery of residencies, exhibitions, and public programmes. Her recent curatorial practice centres around liveness, from street dance and live art, live culture in fermentation, to transforming everyday relations, processes and vulnerabilities into interdisciplinary art projects. She was previously Asymmetry Curatorial Fellow at Whitechapel Gallery in London, and Associate Curator at Tai Kwun Contemporary in Hong Kong.
