Carnaval will be held in Cuenca in early February but Sole and Jim at LaYunta have planned some pre-Carnaval fun for us on 30 January.
In the week before Lent, towns all over Ecuador are overrun by children and adults caught up in giant water fights; water pistols and water-filled balloons ensure that everyone is caught in the chaos of Carnaval. The mayhem is accompanied by entertainment music.
La Yunta invites all Newcomers and people wishing to meet Newcomers to share a traditional all-you-can-eat Carnaval meal of Roasted Pork.
MENU:
Hornado - Roast Pig
Llapingachos - Potato Cakes
Papas Chauchas - New potatoes
Salsa de queso - Cheese Sauce
Ensalada Fresca - Fresh Salad
Coleslaw
Postre Higos Con Miel - Figs with Eucalypto Honey
PRICE FOR ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT HORNADO:
Adults $10
Kids 4-10 $5
Kids under 4 free
For those who don't eat pork, roasted free range chicken will be served in place of pork.
If you require a vegetarian meal, La Yunta will prepare a delicious Musaka, a dish made with potatoes, egg plant, tomato and cheese for only $7.
All meals include a soft drink and dessert. There will also be a cash bar with special drink prices.

If you need transportation, it will be provided for $3 round trip. The pickup and drop off location is Villa San Carlos, Remigio Tamariz 1-85 y Av. Solano.
