To further broaden its expatriate community, the United Arab Emirates has introduced new categories of visas. Building on the success of existing visas for educators, digital nomads, and athletes, the UAE is now extending special invitations to green energy leaders and influencers, strengthening its position as a hub of international talent.

Launching the "Blue Visa" for environmental advocates

In May 2024, the UAE unveiled the "Blue Visa" program, a significant initiative effective from February 2025. This visa grants a 10-year residency permit to professionals working in the environmental sector, including advocates, organizational members, researchers, and climate specialists whose efforts are recognized globally or within the UAE. Anchored in the UAE's Green Agenda 2030 and its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, the Blue Visa aims to attract and retain pioneers in sustainable development and climate governance.

Golden Visa: Broadening horizons for content creators

The prestigious Golden Visa has been expanded to include content creators such as influencers, writers, photographers, artists, and other digital media professionals. Eligibility hinges on demonstrating a significant online presence and contributing to the growth of Dubai's digital economy, marking a strategic move to enrich the region's creative landscape.

AI enhancements in visa processing

Dubai is pioneering the use of artificial intelligence to streamline visa renewal processes. The AI system, Salama, launched on February 24, is designed to expedite application procedures, improving efficiency and user experience for all applicants.

Simplified visa access for Indian nationals

Indian nationals are now benefiting from simplified visa procedures. Those holding an Indian passport and a valid residency permit from New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, or Canada are eligible for an on-arrival visa in the UAE. This new policy adds to the list of eligible countries, including the European Union, United Kingdom, and United States, and aims to enhance the UAE's trade relationships with India.
