As of September, nearly 2,500 tourists had arrived in Mauritius, and many more are expected in the coming months. Besides, the Ministry of Education has revisited the health protocol for schools in case students have been in contact with a Covid-positive person.

More than 9,000 tourists arrivals in Mauritius since January 2021

In September, Mauritius had a record of 2,494 tourists arrivals. Figures are quite similar to those recorded in August, that is, 2,499 travellers. Most of the tourists are from Great Britain, France and Indonesia. Since the start of the year, 9,460 tourists in total have arrived in Mauritius. Nevertheless, the number of tourists arrivals is expected to increase significantly during the month of October.

Covid-19: A revised protocol for students

This week, the Ministry of Education announced amendments to the health protocol applied in schools. The number of self-isolation days for students who have been in contact with someone positive for Covid-19 has changed, considering the start of the vaccination program for them. Thus, vaccinated students will have to self-isolate at home for 7 days, while those who are not will have to self-isolate for 14 days. Classrooms also have to be cleaned and sanitised. The classroom layout also needs to be reviewed by schools.

A fresh breath for the musical scene

The relaxation of strict health restrictions comes like a breath of fresh air for several sectors, including the local music scene. If you a fan of classical music, here is some good news. The classical music festival will be held from October 22 to 24 at the Caudan Arts Center in Port-Louis. Many Mauritian artists will be performing baroque and classical music from various horizons. Don't miss the opportunity to discover the South American harp and stringed instruments on Sunday, October 24.
