As you may have noticed, the days are getting longer and hotter. Summer is fast approaching. In order to make the most of this season, we suggest some activities to discover.

Water activities

The lagoons of Mauritius are among the most beautiful in the world. Boat trips and catamarans days remain very popular activities for both tourists and Mauritians. You can discover the islets surrounding Mauritius while eating local food and listening to good music.

Diving and snorkeling enthusiasts, gear yourselves up! Indeed, the country abounds in marine sites of a rare beauty. The North and East of the island are the most popular for diving and snorkeling.

The lagoon is also suitable for water sports such as kitesurfing, parasailing or surfing.

Swimming with dolphins is an activity not to be missed under any circumstances. However, be sure to choose a provider who respects the sea and the animals when you make your choice. This activity also often allows you to watch the sunrise from the sea. It is therefore important to wake up early. Generally, the trip starts in Tamarin or Le Morne. And if you are lucky, you may even see whales.

Or simply organize trips to the beach to enjoy the sun and the turquoise water. It's an opportunity to have a picnic with family or friends in an idyllic setting.

Parks and nature reserves

Spend a day with your family while discovering part of the island's history. This is what is offered by various parks and nature reserves throughout the island.

The Casela Nature Park is probably the most famous in Mauritius. It covers an area of 350 hectares and offers a multitude of activities for all ages. The park is divided into 5 zones: the safari; the thrill mountain; the predator kingdom; the pangia, birds and walks; and the events.

At Casela's, you will have the opportunity to walk with the lions or feed the white tigers in a secure enclosure. The Tulawaka is also worth a visit. Not to mention the Nepalese bridge and the 5 zip lines or the canyon swing for those who love thrills.

Among the activities offered, let's mention the quad safari, the camel ride and the interactions with the rhinoceros, the cheetah or the serval.

Vanilla Nature Park is a great place for families to discover. It offers a plethora of activities that will delight young and old. For example, you will have the opportunity to see the crocodiles being fed, as well as the giant turtles of Aldabra, to have your picture taken with a baby crocodile or even to feed the lemurs.

Chamarel in the southwest of the island has a not so hidden treasure: The Land of 7 colors. It is the first geopark of Mauritius and offers a rare natural spectacle with the red, blue, green, purple, yellow, purple and brown sand dunes.

In addition to the colored sands, the park also offers great local coffee tasting or a visit to the adventure park. The Chamarel waterfall will take you on a journey through the thick forest.

Waterfalls in series

Speaking of waterfalls, you will find an infinite number of them to discover during your hike, some simple and others more difficult. And with the return of summer, a dip in the cool water is an experience you do not want to miss. Some of the waterfalls to discover include the Tamarind Falls, the 500 foot waterfall and Alexandra Falls. Don't forget to hire a guide on this expedition. Indeed, the hike can be difficult and many have gotten lost.

The Eau Bleue Waterfalls. These ones have the particularity to only fill up after heavy rainfall. It is therefore necessary to bear this in mind if you're planning to go.

Rochester Falls in the south of the island is another emblematic place to discover. This mesmerizing waterfall that gushes over rocks with rectangular sides.

Among other activities to discover: you can also admire the island from above during a helicopter tour. Also, those who love adrenaline can jump in a parachute.
