NEED HELP-FINDING JOB IN MAURITIUS

Tiara K

Hi everyone,

I’m Tiara, and I’m planning to move to Mauritius next month as my family will be relocating there. However, I am currently facing challenges in securing a job opportunity.

I have 8 years of experience in the steel industry, specializing in Operational Excellence and Supply Chain Management. I am also completing my MBA from IIM Calcutta, with graduation scheduled for March 31st.

I would greatly appreciate any guidance on navigating the job market in Mauritius. If anyone can assist with referrals or suggest recruitment agencies that specialize in job placements, I would be truly grateful.

Looking forward to any insights or recommendations. Thank you in advance!

I gather the country imports a lot of steel but I have no idea downstream from there.

I suppose you will have to find out.

Can you speak the language?

Will your visa allow you to work?

Tookays

Welcome Tiara.

If your family is relocating there, what will your visa be, and how long for?

Do you speak French or Creole? If not, learn now.

You can find out and contact the industries there. Operational Excellence and supply change management could easily be applied to industries other than steel.

BTW, IIM Calcutta -- is that Kolkata?

Best wishes.

hi tookays yes its kolkata; my visa as of now is valid till 2027 which will be further extended; no i am actualy learning french is it mandatory there

Fred

I'm not there, but I understand Creole is a big thing.

You might like to find out.

Tookays

French is not mandatory. However, if you are looking for a job in industry, French/Creole is essential I think. All state schools in Mauritius teach in French and English is one of the other subjects. Most people understand English, and many understand Hindi too! If you know French it will be easier to pick up Mauritian Creole which is the default lingua franca .

Best wishes
