Cambiosta question

ondami

Good morning all.

I am a planner and have been doing a lot of research on this forum and via a multitude of websites.

I saw in one post that one person uses a cambiosta or casa de cambio to write themselves checks to speed up getting access to their money in their US bank account.  This of course works after establishing a relationship with the manager of said casa de cambio.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

If so, would you recommend going this route instead of continuous wire transfers (and fees) from US bank to DR bank?

I thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

I use Remitly to transfer from my US bank account to my USD account at Banco Santa Cruz. The fees are low if you plan ahead and can allow 5 days for the transfer. For a few dollars more, you can get faster transfers.
