Applying for Belgian citizenship

DianaSaskiBells

Hello group,

I just wanted to find out how the procedure to apply for Belgian citizenship. I will be eligilble in June 2023. Also, when I apply, I know the Belgian government is so slow that it would take anotehr six months. Just wondering if I can move out of Belgium after the application or I have to wait until I receive the citizenship to move.

Procedure depends on which path you qualify for the citizenship.

If you want to move, best is to wait until you have received the citizenship.(They do check if you actually live where you are registered and this could be an important reason of refusal.)

If you want to move within EU it would be very easy as Belgian citizen.

Hello,

of course Belgium must be your principal point of interest. If you go away during the process, it's likely that they use that excuse to deny your request.

You should clearly wait before doing any move.

Hi Alex. If one goes for just two weeks for a vacation outside EU, after applying for citizenship, its still an issue in your opinion?

AlexFromBelgium

of course not :)
