Do you wish to work in Yaoundé? How to proceed to find a job there? Find out in this article.

Yaoundé has been attracting for a few years expatriates wishing to work and settle there. In fact, Yaoundé is an interesting destination in terms of career prospects for young professionals wishing for a change in environment and lifestyle. Apart from being Cameroon's capital city, Yaoundé is also known to be the country's political and economic center. Thus, you shall not have much difficulty in finding a job there if you feel you have the qualifications and skills which are required by the local labor market.

Economy

The city hosts not only many government institutions but also a large number of foreign companies having set up there to benefit from its promising economy. In fact, Yaoundé's economy is mainly based on the services sector, including tourism and industry.

The industry sector, on its own, consists of breweries, sawmills, carpentry, tobacco, paper, machinery and building materials production. Thus, you are more likely to be hired in these fields provided you have the required expertise, which, above all, is not available locally.

Find a job

In major Cameroonian cities, word of mouth seems to be the most convenient way of finding a job. This also applies to finding housing. So if you wish to be hired in Yaoundé, having a network of contacts should be ideal. Otherwise, you can register with a recruitment agency once you are on the spot so as to have more chances of finding a job according to your profile.

You can also view job offers on the internet or on expatriate forums and other platforms, as well as in classified ads in local newspapers.

Also consider sending spontaneous job applications to foreign companies operating across the country.
