Looking for a job in Grand-Bassam? Here are some tips on this major Ivorian city's labor market.

Located at some 40 kilometers from Abidjan, Grand-Bassam is the former Ivorian capital city. As a dynamic city, it provides many career prospects for expatriates who are looking forward to settle and work there. However, it seems like you are more likely to find a job there by being on the spot. Therefore, take the time to inquire on its labor market's requirements before proceeding.

Economy

Grand-Bassam hosts one of the country's biggest and most densely populated business centers. The city is also a popular beach resort which attracts tourists in large numbers every year. It hosts several hotels and restaurants which make a significant contribution, thus boosting the economic of Southern Camoé.

On the other hand, Grand-Bassam hosts some forty schools, five colleges, two high schools and many other vocational institutions. Moossou, for its part, particularly specialized in the wood industry. You might have guessed by now that Grand-Bassam has a diverse economy.

However, the city' economy is quite weaker than that of other major cities. In fact, its trade and port activities have shifted to Abidjan in the 1930s. Thus, the most active areas are those of the business center (Imperial), tourism and shops which are mainly owned by foreigners, especially Lebanese nationals.

Features

Given its economic frailty, Grand-Bassam remains open to foreign investment. Indeed, the city is easily accessible due to its proximity with Abidjan. Indeed, foreigners are much encouraged to set up a business there, provided they have adequate financial means. On the other hand, tourism is one of the city's main job providers.

Find a job

As mentioned above, you are more likely to find a job in Grand-Bassam by being on the spot. In fact, most vacancies are not published on job websites. These are rather available in classified ads in local newspapers. Networking may also help if you have friends and contacts on the spot. Why not try your luck by sending spontaneous job applications to companies operating across the city as well?

Finally, you are advised to seek the help of foreign Chambers of Commerce in Grand-Bassam. By entrusting them with your resume, they can redirect you toward companies that are looking for professional expertise in particular fields.
