The labour market in the city of Tangier is relatively open. It should not be difficult to find a job in this region which has a rather high growth rate. If you are in possession of an authorisation of entry into the country which is valid for 90 days, you can apply for a work permit allowing you to stay longer. Note that the city has exchange agreements in employment with several partners, including some neighbouring countries. Also, the wages in Morocco do not differ from city to city.

Sectors with potential in Tangier

The city of Tangier is the second economic centre of Morocco after Casablanca. There is a large concentration of industrial activities, particularly in the fields of textiles, chemical and metallurgical products, as well as in the mechanical and shipping sectors and automobile manufacturing. The port area and the free zone are experiencing a high rate of daily activities.

Tangier is also one of the largest resorts in the country, with its modern hotel infrastructure and its various tourist, commercial and craft activities. You can easily find a job matching your profile in one of these areas. Many jobs have also been created in the fields of transport, construction and agriculture.

To overcome the lack of professionalism and expertise in certain sectors, local authorities often call for foreign labour to ensure the continuation of Tangier's economic growth.

Keep in mind that many residents of the north of Morocco are Spanish speakers, and chances are you can secure a job for a Spanish multinational company for your language skills, a Spanish language teaching job as well as Spanish speaking call centres.

As of recently, Tangier is also the home to one of the biggest industrial complexes in Morocco and would be in need for expertise in manufacturing and engineering.

As an expatriate in Tangier, you can expect to make at least 5000 Dh. For middle management, the starting salary is 10,000 Dh, and it can go higher for executives positions and consultants.
