Discover the best places in Bangkok where you can have a great time with your family. It may not always be thought of as a family-friendly city, but it has a lot to offer.

Bangkok may not always be thought of as a family-friendly destination, as it is always associated with night markets, ancient temples, luxury cruises, and incredible nightlife. However, beyond its wild facade, Bangkok has lots to offer families with children.

The City of Angels is much more than it reveals at first glance, and there are lots to discover here, from exciting theme parks to edutainment venues and museums for kids.

Here are some of the best things the big city has to offer to expat families.

Cooking classes & food tours in Bangkok

This is very recommendable, especially for families with adventurous taste buds. It is an excellent way for parents to introduce a new culture to kids — starting by buying the ingredients and finishing by eating the dishes cooked.

You may check Blue Elephant (BTS Surasak) and Bangkok Thai Cooking Academy (BTS Onnut).

Edutainment venues in Bangkok

When Bangkok's chaos ensues, and it gets too hot to play outdoors, air-conditioned indoor playgrounds are best for kids. Try out activities such as laser games, 4D experiences, ice skating, go-karts, trampoline parks, and climbing centers provided by innovative edutainment scenes.

You may check out EasyKart (MRT Rama 9), 4DX (BTS Siam), Amped Trampoline Park (BTS Prakhanong), and Funarium (BTS Thong Lor)

Museums in Bangkok

It helps encourage children to learn and experience the different aspects of the country. It is a great place for parents and children to bond and shape inquisitive young minds. It doesn't only keep the kids busy the whole day, but it is also a great way for them to experience hands-on fun with educational activities.

You can check out the Children's Discovery Museum (BTS MoChit) and Tooney Museum (close to Don Mueang Airport; you may take a taxi to go there).

Playgrounds and parks in Bangkok

Family picnics in the parks located in the heart of the city will let you breathe fresh air away from Bangkok's busy and congested streets. Kite-flying, boat rentals, fish-feeding, cycling, and monitor lizard watching are the best activities to consider.

You may check Lumpini Park (MRT Lumpini), Rot Fai Park (BTS MoChit), Chatuchak Park (BTS Mochit), and Benjasiri Park (MRT Queen Sirikit).

Themed water parks in Bangkok

It is a great way to cool down and enjoy the blazing heat of the sun in Thailand's capital! There are lots of theme parks in Bangkok suitable for all ages – from baby pools to giant water slides for everyone in the family to enjoy.

You may check Fantasia Lagoon Water Park (BTS Bang Wa is nearest, but you need to take a taxi to go there), Pororo AquaPark (BTS Udom Suk and free shuttle), and Dream World (close to Don Mueang airport, you may take a taxi to go there).

Zoo encounters and animal parks in Bangkok

Getting up close and personal with different animals would be an excellent activity for both parents and children, making the visit exhilarating and worthwhile.

You can check out Sea Life Bangkok Ocean World (BTS Siam), Dusit Zoo (you may take a taxi to go there), Safari World, and Snake Farm (MRT Sam Yan or BTS Saladaeng).

Theatre cultural shows in Bangkok

After enjoying the food and shopping galore, seeing a cultural performance with the family is the next best thing to do. A variety of Thai culture performed by great actors on big sets, with high-end effects and great costumes, will enhance your stay.

These are just some of the fun-filled indoor and outdoor activities to do with your family in Bangkok – so if you are planning your next move to Bangkok, don't forget these activities. Take a leap and book those tickets! Bangkok has a lot to offer and will keep you surprised every step of the way!
