Settling down in a new city can be difficult and take some time. The labour market in Prague is doing well now, and searching for a job should not take you a long time. But still, it is always good to have your own network and people around who are business or work-related. The following article will give you a few tips about professional networking in Prague and ways for meeting potential employers or business partners.

Build your network in Prague step by step

Building a professional network in a city like Prague takes probably more time than social networking. It is good to reach out to new people through contacts you already have. Start with your friends and colleagues, ask if they can help you to make contacts. Speak with people and ask them what they do for a living, whether they are employed or have their own business. Check if they are on social media and add them to your network. Feel free to ask directly for their contact; maybe you will need them one day.

You may have the feeling that the Czech people are cold and build walls around themselves. Let the people you know introduce you to others. It is much easier to start a discussion when you have been introduced.

Internet and social media

Nowadays, professional networking works through the internet. Even if you are new in the company, check Linkedin and send a contact request to your colleagues. Be careful with sending invitations to unknown people, though. Doing that takes perfect timing and reason. Do you have a specific offer, or do you think that invited person can have something interesting for you? Also, send a tailored message with an introduction.

Applications for social networking could be helpful too. Even during Couchsurfing or weekly meetups, you can make new contacts with recruiters, or potential business partners. Work is always a good topic to discuss. You can also attend professional networking events in Prague.
