The greater Toulouse area features a well-developed transport network managed by the Tisséo transport company, including buses, metro, and streetcars. Given its sizable student population and vibrant nightlife, the city also offers an efficient night bus system. This ensures that you can easily navigate Toulouse day and night.

The charm of southwestern France lies in its scenic villages surrounding major cities. As an expatriate, consider purchasing or renting a car to explore the surrounding areas of your chosen city and fully enjoy the region's wonderful tourist attractions.

Buses in Toulouse

Toulouse's extensive bus network comprises more than 100 lines, including seven night bus lines operating from 9:30 pm to 1:00 am on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and from 9:30 pm to 00:30 am on Sundays to Wednesdays. These routes are accessible to users with reduced mobility.

For more information on the bus network, stops, and timetables, visit the Tisséo website.

The Toulouse metro

The metro network comprises two lines:

  • line A, which crosses the Garonne and links Basso-Cambo to Balma Gramont;
  • line B, which runs more or less alongside the river, from Borderouge to Ramonville.

Both lines have numerous stops, many of which are located in the city center. Service typically begins around 5:15 am, and the network operates until midnight Sunday through Thursday and until 3 am Friday and Saturday.

Tramway and suburban lines in Toulouse

Tramway lines T1 and T2 connect to the two metro lines. To transfer from the tramway to the metro, you'll need to change when arriving at Arènes station. Both tramway lines terminate at the Palais de Justice.

The T2 tramway line departs from the airport and provides a convenient route to the city center. Toulouse also has a suburban rail network known as Line C, connecting to nearby areas such as Tarbes, Foix, and Saint-Martin du Touch.

The useful links below on the Tisseo website provide more information about the tramway, including timetables.

Mobibus in Toulouse

The Mobibus is designed for people with reduced mobility. You can register online and reserve your Mobibus. A journey costs between 1.10 euros (off-peak) and 1.50 euros (peak). If the user has a disability card mentioning a "need for accompaniment", the companion will travel free of charge.

Shuttle bus in downtown Toulouse

An electric shuttle runs free of charge through the city center Monday through Saturday, from 9:15 am to 7 pm.

Traveling by night in Toulouse

Toulouse's public transport network operates late into the night. Tisséo, the transport company, has made significant updates: Noctambus, a dedicated service for late-night outings, was scheduled to end in 2023. Instead, Tisséo has expanded and enhanced its nighttime transport services.

The Linéo bus lines (L1 to L6, L8, L9, L10, and L11), the buses (18, 19, 39, 44, 78, 79, 106), and the TAD 119 and 171 (Transports à la demande) run at night and are accessible to people with reduced mobility. These bus lines and tramway line T1 are open from 9.30 pm to 1 am on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and from 9.30 pm to 12.30 am from Sunday to Wednesday.

The metro lines run until 3 am on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and until midnight from Sunday to Wednesday.
