Dublin is a vibrant city in which there is always something going on. Regardless of the day of the week, you will be able to do some sort of activity that is enjoyable and fulfils your needs. Whether it's about going to a certain type of event like a comedy show or enjoying some sort of activity or simply walking around in nature, Dublin has you covered.

Sporting events

Sports are a big part of Irish culture. There are two main national sports called Gaelic football and hurling, which are fascinating games that require a significant level of skill today. The main stadium is Croke Park in Dublin, and it holds over 82,000 people. You can sample games at this venue at the weekends or enjoy club games during the week.

Other popular sports include rugby, soccer and tennis. Each of these will have regular events you can check out. Horse racing is very popular, and there is a race course in the suburbs called Leopardstown Racecourse which is very popular for racing enthusiasts and casual fans alike.

Enjoy the nightlife

Dublin is famous for its nightlife. It is known that Irish people love a drink and Dublin is a hive of activity at night, regardless of the day of the week. You can choose from traditional pubs to upmarket and trendy bars or nightclubs. There is something for all tastes in the city if you look for it. A lot of Irish people spend their weekends socialising with friends in pubs and bars around the city.

Embrace nature

As Dublin is located right beside the Irish Sea, there is a lot of cool scenery to be experienced in and around the city. You can go for beautiful nature walks in the outskirts of the county in the likes of Wicklow or even take a weekend trip down to the beautifully rugged west coast of Ireland and experience the rolling green hills, high peaks and blue ocean.

Cycling is very popular in and around Dublin as you can entrench yourself in the lovely hills of Wicklow where you will be alone with your fellow cyclists to take in some breathtaking views.

Sample some live music

Ireland is well known for its love of the arts and music is no exception. Traditional Irish music is what you will find in a lot of old school pubs. There are plenty of live music venues in the city, including the world famous Whelan's on Camden Street. The 3 Arena plays hosts to concerts from global musicians and groups.

During the summer months, you are spoilt for choice with the music festivals on offer in and around Dublin. Many major global acts come to perform every year, and it is a great way to unwind at the weekends. You also have access to great comedy nights in the city, with the Laughter Lounge always being a fan favourite for showgoers.
