Dublin is a beautiful city that has countless things for you to do. You are spoilt for choice no matter what your needs and interests may be. You can be flexible, depending on the given situation at hand. For example, you can choose activities that are well suited to your partner and/or kids, or you can choose other things if it is your friends who are coming to visit you. Here is an overview.

Things to do alone

When you first move to a new city, you might not know many people straight away. It will take some time to get to know the city, the culture and the people in it. However, a great way to get to know the city is to explore it on your own. You should familiarise yourself with the local history and the relevant sites.

You should try out different restaurants and coffee shops and see which parks are the best. It will not take you long to really get to grips with the city and to fall in love with it if you take the time to explore.

If you are familiar with the city, there are countless events and activities you can do on your own. People in Dublin are generally very outgoing, and by attending events related to your hobbies, you will easily make new friends who have similar interests as you.

Things to do with friends

If your friends are visiting you in Dublin, there are countless options for you to do. They may enjoy sports, and you can give them a taste of something new and exciting by taking them to a game of Gaelic football or hurling in Croke Park.

Showing them around some of the city's traditional pubs allows them to sample the fantastic atmosphere and energy that is in the city. The Guinness Storehouse is an exciting and fun experience, where you learn about the history of Guinness and how it is made. Taking a trip away down to the west coast of Ireland is also a great way to show your friends a different side of Ireland that you will not find in Dublin.

Things to do with family

There are plenty of family activities in and around the city. Dublin Zoo is one of the oldest of its kind in Europe and is ideally located in the Phoenix Park, just on the outskirts of the city.

You can go to the beach and enjoy a homemade ice cream or go swimming in the sea in the likes of Sandymount. There is an underwater playground for kids at the National Aquatic Centre, which is a great way to keep your kids entertained for hours if they like the water. Airfield Estate is a fully working farm which allows visitors to experience nature, farming and homegrown food in the suburbs of Dublin. There are many great activities on offer for all different age groups.

Things to do with your partner

If you and your partner are in Dublin looking for something to do, sapling some of the great restaurants the city has to offer is a great start. There are many great shows on offer in Dublin every weekend at the National Concert Hall, the 3 Arena and at the Laughter Lounge. You have a great choice of quality talents to enjoy, regardless of your tastes.
