Brasov is now one of the biggest cities in Romania, and also an attractive economic centre, considering the big number of employees and employers. Due to its level of development, infrastructure, and foreign interest, Brasov is by far a great destination for expats. The city provides a wide range of jobs, in different domains, as well as plenty of opportunities for investors.

The economy of Brasov

During the Communism Era, Brasov was "living" through companies such as the truck factory (ex Steagul Rosu, then Roman), Tractorul, Rulmentul, and others. All these past companies have become just a memory now, although they have created thousands of jobs.

Nowadays, Brasov and its surroundings have a booming economy. Multinationals replaced the old factories and have made great investments in the last few years. The industry is the main domain of activity and has succeeded to revive the economic situation of Brasov, year by year. The city's economy relies on other fields as well, such as services, tourism, medium enterprises, cosmetic and textile industries.

From the greatest employers in the city, expats should look for GlaxoSmithKline (pharmaceutical products), Autoliv Romania, Sykes, Selgros Cash&Carry, Europharm Holding, Schaeffler Romania, and others. For instance, Autoliv Romania is one of the biggest companies when it comes to manufacturing security bags, airbags or other types of equipment. On the other hand, Selgros Cash&Carry is a leading group of hypermarkets with an outlet in Brasov. Also, for expats that are looking for a job in the pharmaceutical domain, Europharm Holding is a great distributor, located in Brasov.
