Sitting on the western coast of the Black Sea, the town is also Romania’s largest seaport. Expats who love a dynamic city and the pleasant summers by the sea should consider this welcoming town. Here is all you need to know about the accommodation here.

From an apartment in the centre of the city to a bungalow on the beach, it is hard not to find the right place to live in.

The main neighbourhoods in Constanta

Expats living in Constanta can explore lots of historical monuments, including the Old Casino and other buildings which are designed in the Art Nouveau style.

Despite the historical buildings, as a true administrative centre, Constanta is divided into several neighbourhoods. These are the Center (Centru), Energia, Abator, Port Tomis, Tomis III, Tomis IV, Victoria, Trocadero, C.E.T, Boreal Palas. The transport from a neighbourhood to another will be easily accessible, via the Bucharest-Mangalia rapid train line. But people living in Constanta can move by bus, car or taxi.

 Good to know:

The public transport in Constanta consists of 23 bus lines and a single tourist bus line. Moreover, there are some neighbourhoods that have access to minibuses, where the regular ones cannot reach. Therefore, those who don't have their own car should know that the accessibility in Constanta is not an issue at all. However, before moving to one of the neighbourhoods, make sure you have easy access to public transport, as well as your future work or the children's school.

The city by the Black Sea is one of the most expensive ones. For instance, a studio, with one-bedroom costs around 220 euros/month in the centre of the city, while outside the centre, it would be 170 euros. A 3-bedroom apartment in the centre is 360 euros. The same one will cost 270 euros if you choose to live outside the centre.

 Important:

These prices are just a guide, and they represented the average amounts in early 2020.

How to find accommodation in Constanta

Constanta is one of the most lively cities in Romania. There are lots of tourists, foreign professionals, and students that are looking for accommodation here. Therefore, there are lots of websites that are listing free housing offers

The internet can be your best friend when looking for housing in Constanta, but you can also register with a real estate agency. They will look for a new home for you based on the budget you have, and the facilities you are looking for. Note that the agency will ask an additional cost for its services. Most of them are asking half of the monthly rent price.

Last but not least, there are local newspapers that have classified ads for this. But you must be careful, as there are some ads that are posted by real estate agencies, and not by the owners of those properties.

Lease conditions and procedures in Constanta

If you are asking the help of a real estate agency, then you will sign a rental contract with the owner of the apartment or the house. This contract will establish the amount of money you need to pay monthly, the date you will pay and also the sanctions in case of non-payment.

There are cases when you will sign a contract of loan for use; it all depends on the owner.

 Good to know:

Most of the tenants will need to pay a warranty, which will be equal to the monthly rent price. This money will come back to you as soon as you leave the rented house/flat provided you do not damage the property.
