If you're a foodie and get the chance to move to Zurich, consider yourself lucky! With new cafés and restaurants constantly popping up, Zurich's culinary scene is as dynamic as the city itself. And with traditional Swiss cuisine and Zurich specialties, you'll never go hungry!

Zurich's culinary specialities

Among Zurich's many specialties, be sure to try Zürcher Geschnetzeltes, or "Zurich-style sliced meat." This dish features thin slices of veal cooked in a creamy sauce, typically served with rösti, a traditional Swiss dish from the German-speaking region. Rösti is made from grated potatoes fried until crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and it can be enjoyed as a side dish or a main course.

Of course, everyone knows about Swiss cheese fondue. In Zurich, you'll find many restaurants serving this classic dish. For a unique experience, book a table on the Fondue tramway, which takes you on a tour of Zurich while you enjoy this specialty.

Another traditional dish is Zürcher Eintopf, a hearty Zurich stew made with various types of meat (beef, pork, or lamb), vegetables, and potatoes. It's especially popular during the colder months!

Street food in Zurich

In recent years, street food has gained popularity in Switzerland. During summer, street food festivals are held across the country, with the Street Food Festival Zurich being one of the most well-known. Here, you can enjoy specialties from different countries and continents. Similarly, Food Zurich hosts numerous events, courses, and tasting sessions throughout the city.

Another must-visit is the street food festival at Zurich's main railway station. The city also organizes similar events in winter, especially leading up to Christmas. At Zurich's Christmas market in the city center, you'll find numerous stalls offering a variety of foods, including traditional Swiss dishes.
