Expats generally look for the safest neighbourhoods to live in Sydney. Also, finding reliable and inexpensive parking is not easy if you are new to Sydney. Whether you're planning to move to Sydney alone or with your family, check out the different neighbourhoods before choosing the one that best suits your needs. How to meet Expats.

Northern Sydney

Hunters Hill is a beautiful suburb on Sydney's North Shore. Located 9 kilometers northwest of the center of Sydney, it is one of Sydney's safest neighbourhoods. Manly, a popular area known for its laid-back atmosphere, is one of the city's most famous surf spots and boasts beautiful waterfront views.

On Sydney's lower north shore is the upscale Mosman neighbourhood. It is home to many of Sydney's business tycoons and lawyers. Lane Cove is a leafy, family-friendly neighbourhood on Sydney's Lower North Shore, along the Lane Cove River.

Western Sydney

One of the safest neighbourhoods in Sydney's Inner West is Ashfield. This delightful suburb is known for its diverse cultural scene. Also of note is Burwood, located 10 kilometers west of Sydney's center, and Strathfield, 12 kilometers away, both of which are well connected by transportation.

East of Sydney

In Sydney's eastern suburbs, you'll find the affluent Woollahra district, close to the city and featuring a wide range of beautiful Victorian homes. There are also many popular waterfront neighborhoods, including the famous Bondi. The North Shore and Eastern Suburbs areas seem to be the safest, while the western areas have a higher crime rate.

Parking in Sydney

The outer suburbs of the city often have free public parking, but you won't find it in the downtown area. Parking is cheap in the western suburbs, but they are quite far from the center. Parking spaces may be included with your accommodation. Expats generally avoid driving to explore the city or to an event, as parking is difficult to find and if you do, expect to pay a small fortune. Trains and buses are easy and convenient options as you can take advantage of Opal card discounts on weekends.
