Do you dream of getting professional experience in Argentina? You can apply for a Working Holiday Visa (WHV). More information in this article…

Each year, Argentina hosts thousands of students looking for professional experience in Latin America. This is possible thanks to the Working Holiday Visa (WHV) which may be offered by the Argentine Embassy in your country. This visa allows you to work in Argentina for a one-year period.

Obviously, you have to undergo and respect certain formalities.

Good to know:

You must be between 18 and 30 years when you apply. You are also authorized to submit your request on the eve of your 31st birthday. But any request on the same day or after will not be considered.

Procedures

First of all, you must hold a valid passport when you apply and valid your stay in Argentina. You must undergo a medical examination in order to obtain a medical certificate stating that you are safe and healthy. You will also have to produce an extract from your criminal records of less than three months, proving you have no criminal history.

Moreover, you are strongly advised to subscribe to a medical insurance before leaving, even if you intend to spend less than a year in Argentina.

Note that the procedures are free of charge. However, you must have a sum of at least 2,500 euros, that is some 20,427 pesos, in order to cater for your needs throughout your stay. You must have a return ticket to your home country or another country.

Once obtained, the visa must be validated in Argentina within three months.

Warning:

You shall not be accompanied by a child or other dependent.

Other conditions

The application must be made within three months prior to the date of departure. Your application will not be considered if you already benefited from the Argentina WHV. However, you can apply if you have benefited from a WHV in another country.

Good to know:

Once it has been approved by the customs department, the WHV allows you to get in and out of Argentina as many times as you wish during a 12-month period. You can work for several companies at a time.
