I've now heard from two different people about TES (The English School) and one said it was the best one in their opinion and the other said it was one of five schools on their 'best list'. One of them has kids in there and the other ... Read More

A lot of people have home businesses on instagram. It's a big thing here in Kuwait. It's worth trying. Not sure how you would spread the word, though... Look for other bakers and comment on their posts, I guess. Read More
Not a great destination? (survey results) by annadp
Hi Has anyone seen this? http://www.internations.org/static/bundles/internationsexpatinsider/images/topic/top-expat-destinations.jpg It seems a bit unfair that we're at the bottom of the list, especially lower than Saudi Arabia!
@TriniMario, that's a great story. Hope you manage to make friends and spend some good time here during your 2 years. I understand, Kuwait definitely provides certain opportunities, especially if you want to be an expert on anything Middle East. ... Read More
Three items! by Enigmausly
If you went back home for a few weeks and were on your way back to Kuwait, what "three" items would you want to make sure you brought with you on your return? (legal...lol, that could be brought back in a suitcase) Things that you may ...

Acoustic music scene in Kuwait? by DHanners
I'm a recent arrival to Kuwait and I'm wondering: Is there is an acoustic music scene here? I play guitar and write and gigged when I lived in the U.S.; I fell into the category of folk/Americana. Are there any clubs or coffee shops here ...
The restaurant Torero in Arabella complex by the sea has live music every Monday. This is fresh info, however, it's better to check by phone as last Monday their vocals person was off sick. By the way, good luck parking a car in there... ... Read More

I love German gingerbreads, need to remember to get them back next time. They're almost impossible to find here. I've seen a Czech or Slovak variety in Yarmouk once but they're not there any more. It was my only craving when pregnant. ... Read More

Let me drag this subject on... ;) It surprised me to see mainly cities in Australia and Canada in the top 10 of the "best to live in". (Best cities to live in) Nevermind that, now. The lower diagram, which shows change from 2009 to ... Read More

Enigmausly, yes, I read that. Ease of Setting In - definitely low for me, too. Additional info clarifies it a bit but also shows this survey is not worth much... TriniMario, it's interesting to read about your experience. Can you expand on it? ... Read More

I'm just a bit sad that Kuwait is at the very bottom. I know it's not the best place to be but surely whoever comes here does it by choice. I guess it must be about expectations then. Unrealistic expectations? And Saudi is supposed to be ... Read More
