I am a retired ABC News correspondent who moved to Ecuador in October of 2013. First I lived along the coast for a few months in Bahia de Caraquez. I like the beach but there just wasn't enough happening there. In December, I moved to Cuenca and love it! A Navy brat, I have traveled the world, lived in nearly a dozen states or US territories including Midway Island and Kodiak, Alaska, but the place I lived the longest was NY--12 years in Manhattan and 22 years in Westchester County, 30 minutes north. A civil rights activist, new filmmaker, investigative reporter and realtor (still have my license) I am applying for residency. Haven't studied Spanish since college and now taking classes three times a week. It's important to be able to communicate and many Ecuadorians do not speak much English at all.
I joined expat.com on 01 March 2014.
