Introduction

I've been living in Brazil for 14 years now. Re-invented the wheel with the absurd bureaucracy in this country more times than I care to remember since coming here, because there was nobody to ask for information. That's why I accepted Julien's invitation to volunteer for the expat.com Experts Team. With the experience I've gained through dealing with that great bureaucratic machine here I have become possibly the foremost source of accurate information about all aspects of life in, living in and immigrating to Brazil that there is. At least this is what I hear from hundreds and hundreds of expat.com members.

I joined expat.com on 20 June 2010.

Actually I'm relatively new to Macaé (June 2012). I have lived in a number of cities since I came to Brazil in 2002; Manaus - AM, São Paulo - SP; Belo Horizonte - MG and surrounding areas, Porto Seguro - BA. I have also visited Espirito Santo and the Distrito Federal.

The bureaucracy that suffocates foreigners and Brazilians alike. The extremes of the very rich and very poor - the great social injustice in this country
