Introduction

I'm a science and nature nerd, love the outdoors nearly as much as I love Arsenal football club. I left the UK in 2000 and spent 7 years living in Zambia before moving to Kenya where I have been ever since (apart from 11 months in Kampala 2014-2015). I have a dog and an ancient Range Rover that is so decrepit I ought to scrap it but I won't give up on it.

I joined expat.com on 26 October 2014.

My first experience of living overseas. I loved my crazy little town, learning to cook and eat Zambian food (Ifimbombo, chikanda and finkubala I miss them, can't find anyone to make them here) Learning to teach with no books or equipment, swimming in the river, drinking ALL the Rhino beer, which sadly they stopped making

Malaria. I had it pretty much the whole time I lived in Solwezi, first got it 10 days after arriving...
