Uganda is in the poorer region of Africa - it is underdeveloped way back then, and I think it still is, as it's quite slow to progress. BUT, that is actually what's great to take a venture over there. It means there are more opportunities and not a lot of competition. The greatest thing I have experienced living there, even if it was only on a short term basis, is that the lifestyle is very simple, in fact very basic. There is also plenty of opportunity to do volunteer works on your free time, so it's just not about work, there's a chance to grow spiritually. It's easy to save money, because when you look around and see the poverty, you wouldn't end up spending on things you initially thought were essential, but clearly not. I also liked that there are a lot of other expatriates, mainly NGO's, and international companies setting up offices over there - so is also very diverse. Nightlife is good, lots of cool bars and casinos.

I loved California for its weather. The availability of real fresh fruits and veggies, and great variety of food. Los Angeles is a melting pot, so people are mostly very open minded and knowledgeable about other cultures, which makes adapting easier.

The time I was in Dubai, it was developed and modern but still very much evolving. Before the global recession, the salaries were so much higher. Dubai, unlike the other cities in the GCC region is very open, modern and very culturally diverse.
