I joined expat.com on 21 November 2014.
Although currently living in Chiang Mai, I am going to Colombia for 3-6 months in March, 2016. Someone mentioned Manizales, too so I may check that out. I want to live in a place with public transportation and neighborhoods for shopping/living.
I have been reading about Medellin for a couple of years.
Nothing yet as I've not been there. Now, if you asked me about Chiang Mai, I'll be happy to comment....
I am in the process of getting settled so that I can decide where to focus my energies and talents. I am also looking into taking the course necessary to get my TEFL designation in order to teach English.
I have read about Chiang Mai for years. Nothing prepares you for living here, however, especially for those of us who had not visited previously. I am committed to making the adjustment!
I have traveled all over the world but have never been to a country with such few English speakers. Granted, I need to learn some Thai, but even the hotel and travel staff have little or no English proficiency. Having been to many 3rd world countries, this continues the image that that phrase elicits. However, I love the people, cleanliness and attitude of the amazing Thai people.
