I'm presently working as a supply teacher (all grade levels) in Ottawa, and have lived and worked as a teacher and writer throughout Canada (was a basebrat) and abroad, including in Aix and Lambesc - a la vendenge - where I first began to learn French. I have French Canadian roots (by way of France) though I did not grow up knowing them, and French was not taught at my school. I continue to study French, mostly on my own, and can read it at about an intermediate level, though need practice speaking and listening. As I hold a British as well as a Canadian passport, I hope to be able to live and work in France and become fluent. As well as French I speak some Japanese and have studied German (while working in California) and Spanish (at university). I am interested in editing English publications or translation, teaching ESL and creative writing, and working in a small pub or cafe to improve my French and to get to know the community.
