I am from Australia and have been married to my husband for 13 years who is from Iran, I have been here before and found it difficult at first as I was not good at farsi but we have come to live here to be with my husbands parents and to have kids, how I have dealt with the move is that I brought all my favourite things with me and products I like (ie cosmetics) as the real brand names cost 3 x the price as in western countries and I brought my english movies with me. I would highly suggest learning farsi before you get here as not many people speak english, it is better to have family or friends to help you out and don't freak out when you see the traffic (ahhhh there seem to be no traffic rules I am constantly getting road rage from the passenger seat lol) be prepared for genuine fake designer brands at the markets and if you have allergies bring enough Telfast with you as the polution is quite bad in Tehran. My favourite places are Esfahan and the North and the food is unbelieveable do try the local food (western food costs more and most of the time is not good) and for women you will need to wear a scarf outside of the house, there are NO bars or nightclubs (which I don't like as I miss my margaritas lol) but if you are desperate you can get alcohol if you find the right person. I look forward to meeting new people I have worked in the beauty industry for 22 years but I am also a Counsellor, Relationship therapist and Life Coach (which they don't get here lol I just say Psychology lol)
