I am a married gal living in a small northern california community. Tucked in among the redwoods and surrounded by loggers, fisheries and ranchers-I grew up here in this town of about 5,000 or so. I met my husband, who is from Scotland and we have been together now for almost 17 years and are the proud parents of 2 cats and one 4 pound poodle! We live honestly, on a small income and consider ourselves to not only be 'green' in our thoughts but in actions as well-we keep a small garden for our needs and tend to a larger one that gives to the community. We aren't far from the beach so every now and then we run off to feed the gulls an drink tons of locally roasted coffee. We recently have decided that it is time for us to consider our options when it comes to a location that we can call 'home' and we have both had Canada in mind separately and now as a couple. My husband is a videographer and film editor, with his own business while I have worked in various office positions over the years for government employed programs including social services/child protective services. Our goal is to spend the next 2 years preparing ourselves mentally and financially to take the next step to moving to BC-and there is where I get confused in my plan: I would prefer to live in a small community if at all possible and I just need to find more ways to explore those leads.
