I am Canadian, grew up in Vancouver, and studied anthropology in university. I am passionate about travelling, and I absolutely love meeting new people, experiencing new things, and seeing new places. Since university I have lived in Dar es Salaam, Dubai, and Istanbul, and have now moved to Budapest. I am looking forward to getting to know this city, starting again in a new place, and learning about a new culture.

I initially worked as an au pair here, and absolutely loved the experience, and began working at a private school in September 2016, as a kindergarten English teacher. I adore being a kindergarten teacher. When I'm not working, there are endless things to do and keep me busy in Istanbul.
I love the mix of the old and the new in this city. I love the people who play music in the streets, and the cats and dogs that roam the neighborhoods. I love baclava and Turkish delight, and sitting around drinking tea by the Bosphorus. I love watching the ships go by, and crossing from Asia to Europe on the ferries. I love the street food and the fresh juices, and the Turkish coffee. I can't possibly put into words all the things I love about Istanbul.
Unfortunately, the traffic in Istanbul is awful. So commuting to work by car is always a nightmare. I also dislike the nationalism here - Turks are proud to the point of nationalistic and this can be quite difficult, frustrating and even scary, given how divisive politics can get in this area of the world.
I worked as an au pair and spent the weekends meeting new people, exploring the city, the Emirates and Oman, and diving.
I loved the atmosphere, the energy and positivity, and the versatility. Dubai has something for everyone and is such a vibrant, multicultural place. I absolutely loved my time there.
What I found was lacking, was culture. Dubai is a city of expats, and while I love that, there is a sense of something missing after a while.
I worked briefly as an English teacher, before deciding to work with a friend's NGO, Better Nation, raising money for rural schools around Tanzania.
I absolutely love everything about Tanzania.
