I'm originally from Nottingham in the UK but was finally driven out in May 2008 by the lousy weather, the Economy and last but not least - the thought of another four Years of Gordon Brown. I come from an artistic and slightly insane background anyway and from what I now know of Greece, it's probably one of the reasons for me being able to cope with living here so far and falling in love with it's madness. My Grandfather before me escaped the Russians during WW2 to seek a new life in the UK and in the finest family tradition, I escaped the UK to pursue a new life here in Greece. Coming to Greece is also partially responsible for inspiring my website esadude.com, and my blog fckdupathens.wordpress.com & esadude.wordpress.com and if you live or have ever lived in Greece, you'll know just how fckdup life can really be in this amazing country...
I joined expat.com on 22 January 2011.

Its a truly beautiful country full of opportunity and promise. The experiences here are wonderful, the history of the country and the places to visit are endless and the culture is mind blowing. Everything about Greece is decadent, the food, the wines, the spirit of the people and the zest for life is truly magical. Moving to Greece is the equivalent to relocating to a strange new Planet, one which resembles what you once new about life, and yet redefines everything you need to know about survival. Inspirationally as well, Greece feeds your soul.
Learning the language... It has 5 (e)'s and trying to adapt to 40 degrees in the shade, being from the UK it's extreme. I don't think my English cooker even got that hot!!! The worst thing for me has been having to fight the corruption and experiencing all the social and economic misery which is strangling this great place. This isn't mandatory and is just subject to my own personal experiences - It's not like Papandreou personally meets you at the airport and introduces you to some while you're waiting for your luggage to arrive but it's bad. Sadly it has also been allowed to fall into recession due to years of economic unrest, lies and the wholesale corruption and widespread systematic abuse by a select few people who have plundered everything that could have been great about this country. Now the majority of Greek's all fight to survive as best as they can while they watch everyone fight amongst themselves during these hard times...
It's Holland, what more needs to be said. . .
It's Holland.
Leaving.
Temporary stay in the suburbs of Antwerp.

What's to say really, another one of the UK's finest cold & wet, damp miserable sh*tholes... Not really, I loved it while I lived there but needed the chance to stretch my proverbial travel legs.
A Great City surrounded by some beautiful landmarks and area's, it's nice and central so when it it wet and miserable you can easily travel to another wet and miserable city for a change. Family roots are in the Midlands so it always played a large part of my life.
