Miles White holds a PhD from the University of Washington and a BA from the Colorado College. He is the author of "From Jim Crow to Jay Z: Race, Rap and the Performance of Masculinity," published in 2011 by University of Illinois Press. A former newspaper journalist, he has written for USA Today and other publications.
