I am from Washington State & My wife, Olivia, is from Quila, Jalisco. We met in Bellingham WA 22 years ago. We have a house in Ameca, Jalisco that we built about 10 years ago. We found ourselves spending more and more time in Puerto Vallarta as we love the weather, the beach, and the vibe there. So we just bought a cozy little casita in Palmar de Aramara, near the Hotel zone and Marina. We are doing a complete remodel of the place and look forward to spending our winters there, and summers split between Ameca and Washington State.
I joined expat.com on 16 August 2017.
We live here to be close to our grandchildren. Summers are beautiful. But winters... not so much.
I worked all over Iraq as an inspector during the 2nd Gulf war. I'd love to come back to this country when peace and security is achieved by all of the long-suffering people in this region.
The people of this region are truly the salt of the earth. Very kind and highly educated. Tremendous history and cultural richness is waiting to be explored.
The time I spent there was during a bloody and terrifying war. I wish the people of this place can find peace soon.

Born and raised in So Cal. At the age of 12 I moved to the Pacific Northwest.
It was great growing up in SoCal as a child. Warm perfect weather, days on the beach.
It has changed since I was a child. Dirtier, crowded, violent, less friendly... I don't miss it.
