I am a 38 year old Combat Army Veteran medically retired after 14 yearsI have a son and we both train Capoeira and studied Portuguese in Barra, Bahia for 4 weeks. I have trained for over four and a half years but this past summer was my first visit to Brazil through a cultural immersion program. Life was simpler and better for the both of us then I met and fell in love with a local. I miss Bahia very much and felt connected to the point that I want to live there within a few years. I am a single mom with a child who has been uprooted much because of my military career and I am concerned with moving him again. I ultimately want to buy a flat in Bahia and live there half the time and here in Texas. After my passion of cooking for my family and growing up learning generational recipes and exploring foods from different countries, I want to learn about the food and history from Brazil and travel to eventually become a private chef. I have been to Bahia 6 times and speak Portuguese very well. What I love most and understand about Brazil is to face life there with what?s in front of me and take each moment and day as it is. I rest and relax better there and the history of AfroBrazilians speaks so synonymously to my own culture so I feel at home and I look forward to future travels.
