Introduction

I'm an English Teacher in South Korea, disenchanted with American public education, -and also many aspects of current American "non-culture". I like people, but am offended by commercialism primarily for greedy self-interest. I like the social concern and courtesy of the South Korean people, but find the weather here and and the language a bit difficult. I try to be environmentaly conscious, and have taught biology/ecology. I am a spiritual person of primarily Christian orientation, but have studied yoga (and surveyed many other religions), and am respectful of all true spiritual paths. I try not to judge by the "outward appearance" of others ... but by the "fruits of the tree". I believe that the human race is bound for near "extinction" on its present course, if we do not develop a broad-based (and non-nationalistic) human concern for each other, as well as peacful spiritual co-existence, and better, cleaner use of the Earth's limited resources (especially energy). We should take "the long view" of civilization, and remember that even without nuclear war, the next major earth disaster ...(super volcano, asteroid with Earth's name on it, inevitable ice age)...is only a matter of time (10% chance of a super volcano in this century). If we are still bickering over politics, resources or religious views by then, our civiliztion will likely not survive, -nor may the human race. It is, therefore, a MINIMUM requirement for survival, that we at least cooperate as well any "socially intelligent" species would (the ants, for example ...or they may be our long term successors). Given our current state of disunity, -I generously estimate for the human race ... about a ten percent chance of surviving this millenia. (Unless some further "Divine Intervention" takes place. ; - )

Teaching English in a Community College.

Winters are too cold here; language is very difficult to learn; OFTEN POOR AIR QUALITY; high population density / most habitable residences are very noisy.

Teach, Medical work, performance music, ecology.

Too much traffic and pollution; too high a cost of living (big environmental footprint; lots of waste); too much 'latent prejudice' (not just white people either).
