Introduction
Hello! My husband, son and I plan on moving to Kuala Lumpur, in the next two months. I am originally from Venezuela and my husband and son are American (US). We currently live in Phoenix, Arizona. My husband is a pilot and I will most likely become a stay-at-home mom, and we will be flying out in the next month to begin looking for housing, schools, etc. For now, we just wanted to test the waters and see if anyone has any advise on good housing neighborhoods, any American schools and any other useful advise for navigating in Malaysia as an expat. This is not the first time, we live in a foreign country, but it will be the first that we move as a family and the first time I visit Asia. We're pretty excited about our move and hope to start making some friends!

Expat experience
Actually, although I've never officially lived in Venezuela, my native country, for more than 6 months at a time, I have visited it pretty much at least once annually, throughout my life.
I love Venezuela's topographic diversity and its rich culture, including its delectable food, music and performing arts. Venezuela is renowned for having the tallest water falls in the word, Angel Falls, the highest cable cart in the world, at El Pico Bolivar in the Andes, being the birthplace of Simon Bolivar, infamous freedom-fighter for northern South American countries, and for having won the most international beauty pageants, although I'm not sure that this statistic is still accurate. In all, Venezuela has gorgeous Amazonian, Andean, Caribbean, Arid and Mountainous geography, including 72 islands. It is ultimately unique amongst its South American counterparts, as it shares more in common with its Caribbean neighbors, to the north, than it does with any of its land-mates, making baseball the national pastime. An unfortunate victim of its current political turmoil and significant crime rate, Venezuela is a spectacular destination, which easily distinguishes itself from any other.
Current socio-economic political climate and growing violent criminal activity. As a result, Venezuela has incurred great intellectual and monetary flight, in the past 10 years, losing a much of its talent and resources abroad. This, actually, makes me hopeful that I may find a Venezuelan community in Malaysia.
