Hi everyone. I was born in Hungary, and when I was 20 years old I left Hungary (then still a Communist country) I have been living in Canada since 1984. Life is very good in Canada as long as you can work. The cost of living is very high in bigger cities like Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, not to mention Vancouver ( the most expensive). Canadian old age pension and old age security combined hardly enough to live on in the above mentioned cities. If you move to an isolated part of the country, the local people are very clicky. They do not like to take in outsiders. I am now over 55 and do to some very unfortunate happenings, I know that I can't afford to retire in Canada. Hungary is the best choice for us, not only for financial reasons, but also the climate is nicer, winter is very mild compared to Canadian winters. The culture is rich in history, art, folklore ect. Oh, and of course knowing the local language is a huge advantage. Hungary is my background, and my wife's also, although she was born in Canada.
