I am Puerto Rican born and raised as an Army brat, primarily in the states. I now have a family of my own and have always had a very STRONG desire to go back to live in Puerto Rico. I feel as part of my culture is being lost and I want my kids to have that to treasure. I also want them to have opportunity-which is the primary reason my parents left the island long ago. I could not do their efforts justice if I went back and didn't have a plan. I have joined in the hopes of getting the inside scoop of moving over there and making an educated decision, rather than going on a feeling. I, like my parents, want opportunities for my children-but I don't want them to miss out on culture. I am a registered nurse and have 7 years of ER experience. I am also currently in the process of getting my Family Nurse Practitioner. My husband and I are well rooted here (Florida) and would only make the move if jobs and a solid education for our kids are a realistic possibility. otherwise, we'd look at investing in a property to have for when we want to visit. We love the northwest coast, primarily Aguadilla and overall love the island lifestyle where things don't seem to be in such a rush all the time.
I joined expat.com on 06 January 2019.
