We have spent a month here is Tuscany.
The Tuscan sky. The overwhelming works of art. The beautiful crumbling cities of Florence, Venice, and Pisa. Moving around without a car using trains, buses, and walking. The people we meet were very nice and warm. We felt safe here at all times.
We were underwhelmed by the food - except gellato (sorry folks). The closure of businesses and restaurants mid day (similar to Spain siesta). Food and rent are higher compared to Spain but we expected this factor.
First stop on our family world journey.
The people are wonderful and we quickly built strong ties with a few local families. The weather is the warmest we experienced in Europe. Coming from the USA the cost of living was greatly reduced across major categories such as rent, food, health insurance, transportation. The pace of life was a wonderful change from the hustle of the US and we learned to slow down and enjoy life. With a large expat community we had a soft landing while we learned to speak Spanish. The varied climate and landscape from the North versus the South of Spain. Roads and trains are excellent. Our home city in Los Boliches was wonderfully clean and safe.
We moved from Florida to Costa del Sol, so the though the Summers felt great with lower humidity, the Winters were colder. Adjusting to siesta hours for businesses and restaurants. The residency process is incredibly arduous.
