I came to Colombia with the intention of setup a residence here. After reading the posts regarding taxation of retirement plans, the draconian wealth tax, intentionally misleading council provided by Colombian attorneys and tax advisors apparently designed to influence potential retires, we will be moving on ASAP. I also setup a consultation with a Colombian law firm to discuss the provisions of the income tax and wealth tax and was giving incorrect information. It all appears to be some self serving conspiracy perpetrated on unsuspecting retires. I'm glad you we here to keep me from making a $240,000 usd mistake (first year!).
