BACKGROUND Did you know that people who live in rural areas are marginalized? This is a short project description of Zion of Life Home Based Care (hereby referred in short as ZOLOF), A Home-Based Care Project for orphans, widows, youths, and the aged. It is a registered non-profit organization and community based initiative in Dunga Community in Kisumu,Dunga is 4 km from Kisumu City and East Kano Region, Kenya,East Kano is 30km from Kisumu town. REASON FOR ITS ESTABLISHMENT The project was established following a realization that: 1. HIV/ AIDS continues to create chaos and suffering, leaving behind many helpless orphans and widows. 2. The cost of education is high and the number of untrained youths is increasing. 3. The aged, though economically unproductive, have the rights for the basic human needs. MANAGEMENT The project has a well defined management structure with The Executive Director at the apex who administers the day to day activities of the project. It also has a Board comprising of the offices of Chairman, Hon Secretary, and Treasurer, who along with other members are charged with the joint responsibilities of formulating policies and making decisions for the project. OBSTACLES The major obstacle is the lack of finances. SUMMARY To summarize the main works of ZOLOF: 1. Providing daily basic needs (food, clothing, blankets, mosquito nets and medication). 2. Providing funds for pupils' school fees, Stationery and Uniform. 3. Providing funds for youth job-training. 4.
