In 2019, My wife and I have travelled coastal towns from Veste to Sante Maria de Leuca in southern Italy. Were retired Americans (originally New York) with Euro (Irish) passports also, so dont need visas. Living in London last 5 years to be near kids and grandkids. Were not likely to return to USA anytime soon. We think Lecce is just right size. We want to visit Lecce for two-three weeks as soon as pandemic allows. If we love it, as we think we will, we would like to rent a small house or apartment for 2-3 years. Can one rent a 2 bedroom near town centre for €650-€800 month? Is that realistic. Seen some big furnished flats on line for €750, hope that works. Were 75, healthy, dont have pots of money, but enough to live simple life and hoping southern Italy is right for us.
