Expat experience
Buy or build property on a large piece of land in a rural, but well supported community.
Built our retirement villa here. Foster street dogs (especially Golden Retrievers) with my wife, Susan, before their transit to UK and adoption by a family in UK. To supress my road rage at the abysmal standard of Turkish driving ....
Weather and low cost of living
Bureaucracy and inconsistency of application of the law. Lack of proactive policing. General ignorance and lack of education of the population.
Served in Royal Air Force of Oman as Warrant Officer responsible for helicopter 1st, 2nd and 3rd line, engine and component maintenance and repairs.
People, weather, working hours, annual holiday.
Salary in uniform was very low for middle east.
