Expat experience
I have a small olive farm with some vineyards. I am currently renovating the farm facilities, which have been neglected over the years. There farm is being certified as organic, with plans to upgrade the homestead this year.
It is quiet, all my neighbors are Portuguese, and while few speak any English we seem to get on very well.
The local council seems stuck in the 1980?s when it comes to approvals of carbon-efficient, independent sustainable utilities.

It is very fast-paced, in many ways superficial.
An Ecologist and educator by profession I have lectured, worked in wildlife conservation and managed a number of world renowned national parks.
The people, the lifestyle and the African story, as troubled as it may have been.
The lack of career opportunities, corrupt politicians, which stifle some of the world?s most creative and innovative people.
