Expat experience
Studying French, baking bread, swimming and meditation
Abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables, year-round sunshine, warm and friendly people (when they are NOT driving), low cost of living, ease of finding well-paid teaching positions
Lack of infrastructure, no privacy, traffic chaos, constant noise, humidity and mold, distance from my family in America, minimal access to outdoor space and nature
Taking care of my little dog for 17 years, exploring all 5 boroughs through food/art/music, tending to my terrace garden, organizing apartment pot-lucks
Energy energy energy. Small areas of quiet easily found in big city. Can find 10 different langues being spoken on the same subway car. Can find the most obscure activities and groups to do just about anything you can imagine.
